# Key Inflection

> Control response JSON key casing with the Key-Inflection header.

The `Key-Inflection` header lets you control the casing of JSON keys in API
responses. This is useful when integrating with systems that expect a specific
naming convention.

## Options

| Value             | Example key         | Description                                                      |
| ----------------- | ------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `snake` (default) | `face_match_passed` | Snake case — words separated by underscores.                     |
| `camel`           | `faceMatchPassed`   | Camel case — first word lowercase, subsequent words capitalized. |
| `kebab`           | `face-match-passed` | Kebab case — words separated by hyphens.                         |

## Usage

```bash
curl https://api.withverifa.com/api/v1/sessions/session_abc123/result \
  -H "X-API-Key: vk_live_your_key_here" \
  -H "Key-Inflection: camel"
```

#### snake_case (default)

```json
{
  "session_id": "session_abc123",
  "face_match_passed": true,
  "face_match_score": 0.94,
  "extracted_data": {
    "first_name": "Jane",
    "last_name": "Doe",
    "date_of_birth": "1997-06-15"
  }
}
```

#### camelCase

```json
{
  "sessionId": "session_abc123",
  "faceMatchPassed": true,
  "faceMatchScore": 0.94,
  "extractedData": {
    "firstName": "Jane",
    "lastName": "Doe",
    "dateOfBirth": "1997-06-15"
  }
}
```

#### kebab-case

```json
{
  "session-id": "session_abc123",
  "face-match-passed": true,
  "face-match-score": 0.94,
  "extracted-data": {
    "first-name": "Jane",
    "last-name": "Doe",
    "date-of-birth": "1997-06-15"
  }
}
```

## Notes

* Key inflection applies to response bodies only. Request bodies should always
  use snake case.
* The `Key-Inflection` header is optional. If omitted, responses use snake case.
* You can also set a default key inflection per webhook endpoint, so webhook
  payloads are delivered in your preferred casing.
