# List document groups

GET https://api.withverifa.com/api/v1/settings/document-groups

Returns all document groups configured for your organization. Groups
bundle related document types with shared routing and check configuration.

**Required scope:** `documents:read`.

Reference: https://docs.withverifa.com/api-reference/document-types/list-document-groups

## Authentication

- `X-API-Key` header (required) — Organization API key. Keys are prefixed with `vk_live_` (production) or `vk_sandbox_` (sandbox).

## Request

### Headers

- `Verifa-Version` (date, optional) — API version date string (e.g. `2026-02-01`). If omitted, the version pinned to your API key is used.

## Response

### 200

A list of document groups.

- `data` (list of DocumentGroup, required)

## Errors

### 401 Unauthorized Error

Missing or invalid API key.

- `error` (string, required) — Short error code.
- `status_code` (integer, required) — HTTP status code.
- `detail` (string, optional) — Human-readable error description.

## Types

### DocumentGroup

- `id` (string, required) — Document group ID.
- `org_id` (string, required) — Organization ID.
- `name` (string, required) — Human-readable group name.
- `is_default` (boolean, required) — Whether this is the default group for unmatched documents.
- `is_active` (boolean, required) — Whether this group is active.
- `priority` (integer, required) — Evaluation priority order (lower is higher priority).
- `created_at` (datetime, required)
- `updated_at` (datetime, required)
- `description` (string, optional, nullable) — Description of this group.
- `classifications` (list of string, optional) — Document classification slugs that match this group. When a document is uploaded and classified as one of these slugs, the group's `check_config` and `recency_config` apply.
- `check_config` (list of list of string, optional, nullable) — Override the verification check suite for documents matched to this group. Each entry is a `[check_name, category, requirement]` tuple. Highest priority — beats document-type and org-level overrides.
- `recency_config` (DocumentGroupRecencyConfig, optional, nullable) — Recency rule applied to documents in this group. When `enabled` is true, the `recency_check` reads the issue date from the document's `extracted_fields` (`issue_date`, `statement_date`, `effective_date`, or `document_date`) and fails the check if the document is older than `max_age_days`.

### DocumentGroupRecencyConfig

Recency rule applied to documents in this group. When `enabled` is true, the `recency_check` reads the issue date from the document's `extracted_fields` (`issue_date`, `statement_date`, `effective_date`, or `document_date`) and fails the check if the document is older than `max_age_days`.

- `enabled` (boolean, optional) — Whether the recency check is active for this group.
- `max_age_days` (integer, optional) — Maximum allowed document age in days.
