# Core Concepts

Before integrating Verifa, it helps to understand the key objects you'll work
with. Each concept below maps directly to an API resource.

| Concept                  | What it represents                                                          |
| ------------------------ | --------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Session**              | A single verification attempt — tracks a user from capture to decision      |
| **Verification & Check** | An individual step in a workflow (document OCR, face match, liveness, etc.) |
| **Workflow**             | A configurable pipeline that defines which checks run and in what order     |
| **Identity**             | A deduplicated record of a verified individual across sessions              |
| **Case**                 | A flagged session routed for human review                                   |
| **Screening & Report**   | AML/PEP/sanctions screening results and monitoring reports                  |
| **List**                 | Custom allow/deny lists for blocking or fast-tracking known individuals     |
